About College Square Sarbajanin Durgotsab Committee – Since 1947
College Square — Kolkata's conceptual, mirror-work pandal
College Square Sarbajanin Durgotsab Committee, near College Street in North Kolkata, is one of the city's iconic Durga Pujas, established in 1947–48. Themed around the historic College Square tank, the puja is famous for its reflective and mirror-work pandals that play with light, water and illusion.
In 2024 the committee drew attention with a pandal modelled on the Swiss Parliament building (Bundeshaus) in Bern, merging European civic architecture with Bengali festival craft. Over the years College Square has repeatedly been among the most awarded pujas, celebrated for intelligent, often architecture-inspired themes rather than sheer scale.
The organising committee maintains an official website (collegesquaredurgapuja.com) and a strong digital presence. Set in the intellectual heart of Kolkata — surrounded by bookstores, colleges and coffee houses — College Square remains a must-visit for pandal-hoppers who appreciate conceptual design.
College Square Sarbajanin Durgotsab Committee was established in 1947–48 beside the College Square tank near College Street in North Kolkata. Over the decades it became renowned for mirror-work and conceptually driven pandals, frequently ranking among Kolkata's most awarded Durga Pujas.
