Santosh Mitra Square — tradition meets creativity

Santosh Mitra Square, popularly known as Lebutala Park, in North Kolkata is one of the city's most prominent Durga Pujas, established in 1936. The committee has built a brand around "tradition meets creativity," pairing devotional ritual with spectacular, often topical, pandal art.

Recent themes have been bold and nationally resonant: in 2023 the pandal evoked the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya; in 2025 it presented "Operation Sindoor," referencing the Indian armed forces' strike; and for 2026 the theme is "Vande Mataram," marking the 150th anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's song. Each year the club commissions large-scale installations that double as public commentary.

Santosh Mitra Square consistently ranks among Kolkata's most visited and most awarded pujas, drawing enormous crowds to its North Kolkata location near Central Avenue. Its ability to fuse current affairs with craft has made it a benchmark for thematic pandal-making.
