Hindusthan Club organises a community Durga Puja in the Gol Park / Hindustan Park area of south Kolkata, a leafy neighbourhood close to the Lake and Gariahat. The committee is preparing its 2026 presentation under the theme Sphuling (স্ফুলিঙ্গ, "Spark"), a title that hints at ignition, energy and the small beginnings of something larger. Like many south-Kolkata neighbourhood pujas, Hindusthan Club balances traditional idol worship with contemporary pandal design, and its compact, community-centred celebration is a staple for pandal-hoppers moving between the Gol Park and Lake markets area. The club's continuity reflects the enduring appeal of the barowari (community) model of Durga Puja in the city — a form that turns a residential para into a five-day open-air festival. The rituals follow the classical calendar, from the Mahalaya invocation through Shashthi to the Dashami immersion, and the evenings bring cultural programmes, food stalls and the familiar crowds that define Kolkata's autumn.
