Naktala Udayan Sangha — A South Kolkata favourite

Naktala Udyaan Sangha, based in the Naktala neighbourhood of South Kolkata, is among the city's most admired community Durga Pujas. The club was founded in 1986–87 and has, over nearly four decades, built a reputation for artistic pandals, thoughtful themes and a strong record of social outreach.

The committee is especially known for pairing craft with message. In 2021 its "Chalchitra" presentation (artist Rintu Das) drew wide attention for its intricate painted narrative panels. In 2023 the theme "Arambho" (also referred to as "Hridoypur", artist Pradip Das) explored beginnings and the idea of home. For 2025 the club presented "Arpan" / "Tarpan," a conceptual theme around offering and remembrance (artist Rintu Das), continuing its tradition of large-scale art direction.

Beyond the pandal, Naktala Udyaan Sangha runs blood-donation camps, health check-ups and relief work, and has consistently figured among the award-winning pujas of South Kolkata. Crowds flock to the modest Naktala bylane venue during Saptami through Vijaya Dashami.

The club's appeal lies in balancing accessible community celebration with museum-grade temporary art, making it a fixture on pandal-hoppers' lists year after year.
