About Parnashre Palli

Parnashree Palli — A Behala Neighbourhood Durga Puja

Parnashree Palli is a community Durga Puja in South Kolkata, Kolkata, in the Parnashree Palli neighbourhood of Behala. Organised by the local "Sarbojanin" committee, it is one of the many barowari pujas that give Behala its dense, festive pandal landscape each year.

Behala's pujas are known for their enthusiastic community participation and increasingly creative themes, even as smaller paras retain traditional forms. Parnashree Palli's celebrations bring together residents for idol worship, cultural evenings and the shared experience of Durga Puja that defines autumn in Kolkata.

  • The puja is run by a neighbourhood committee of local residents.
  • The festival follows the traditional five-day worship calendar.
  • Community bhogs and cultural programmes are central to the celebrations.

As part of Kolkata's UNESCO-recognised Durga Puja, Parnashree Palli contributes to the citywide carnival that draws millions of pandal-hoppers every year.
