Unnayan Pally — A Beloved Paschim Putiary Community Puja

Unnayan Pally (widely known in the locality as Pally Unnayan Samity) is a neighbourhood community club in Paschim Putiary, in the Haridevpur–Kudghat belt of South Kolkata. Like many of the city's para-based pujas, it began as a small gathering of local youth and residents and grew over the decades into one of the more talked-about community Durga Pujas of the region.

The club is situated off Banerjee Para Road and is easily reached from Netaji Metro station, serving a densely populated residential pocket where Durga Puja remains the high point of the year. Beyond the festival, the club organises sporting events, cultural programmes and social activities that keep the locality's community life active through the calendar.

The puja has earned a steady reputation for artistic pandal craft. In 2022 it was listed among Asian Paints' select top-12 Kolkata pujas, a recognition that drew wider attention to this otherwise local celebration. By 2026 the club was observing its 72nd year of Durga Puja, unveiling the theme “Prachalan,” which the committee described as a blend of heritage, artistic excellence and contemporary storytelling under secretary Subham Chakraborty.
