About Adi 57 58 Sammilita Palli

ADI Sammilita 57/58 Pally Sarbojanin is a neighbourhood Durga Puja in North Kolkata, organised around Ladies Park in Ward 60 by the Mahajati Sansad. The celebration brings together the residents of the adjoining 57 and 58 Pally lanes, continuing Kolkata's barowari (community) tradition in one of the city's oldest puja belts. Each autumn the club raises a temporary pandal and installs a traditional pratima, drawing local families for the five days of Saptami through Dashami. Like many North Kolkata pujas, the emphasis is on intimate, paras-based devotion rather than large thematic spectacle — anjali, dhunuchi naach, sandhi puja and community bhog remain the heart of the programme. The committee marks its khuti puja and bodhon with public gatherings, sometimes attended by local elected representatives, underscoring the puja's role as a neighbourhood institution. Pandal-hoppers exploring the northern part of the city often pause here for the warm, unhurried atmosphere and the classic idol. While documented history and recent theme details are limited in public records, the 57/58 Pally puja endures as a cherished annual fixture of its locality's cultural calendar.
