Within this lane-and-loft warren of clay and straw, the Kumartuli Sarbojanin Durgotsab committee organises a community puja that draws on the neighbourhood's singular artistic heritage. Tucked along the narrow by-lanes near Sovabazar, the club's pandal is habitually visited by pandal-hoppers who come as much for the craft as for the devotion.

The committee has built a reputation for theme-based pandals that celebrate the maker's hand. Its 2026 theme, Gangotri to Ganga (গঙ্গোত্রী থেকে গঙ্গা), traces the river's journey from source to the plains, rendered through the imagery and materials Kumartuli is famous for. Previous years have explored similar narrative and craft-led concepts, keeping the pandal rooted in the locality's identity rather than spectacle for its own sake.

Because the club sits inside the idol-makers' colony, visitors often combine the darshan with a walk past the studios where the city's goddesses are born — a living museum of Bengal's clay tradition.
