About Pallyshree
Pallyshree Durga Puja, Ultadanga
Pallyshree is a Kolkata community Durga Puja associated with the Ultadanga area of North Kolkata. Photographs from Durga Puja 2018 show the Pallyshree pandal in Ultadanga — a brightly decorated neighbourhood pandal typical of the city’s para (community) celebrations, where a local club transforms a street or park into a temporary temple for the goddess.
Ultadanga sits in North Kolkata, close to Gouribari and the Manicktala–Tala belt that forms one of the city’s most active Durga Puja corridors. The area’s pujas range from century-old community celebrations to newer para clubs, and Pallyshree belongs to this lively north-Kolkata festive culture.
Like many neighbourhood pujas, Pallyshree’s public profile is built around its annual pandal and idol rather than a documented founding-year history. Its 2018 pandal, captured in publicly available photography, displays the colourful, light-filled styling common to Kolkata community pujas — a welcoming, informal space where local residents gather for four days of worship, cultural programmes and adda.
- Location: Ultadanga (North Kolkata).
- Documented: 2018 pandal photographed in public archives.
- Character: neighbourhood / para community Durga Puja.
For pandal-hoppers in North Kolkata, Pallyshree offers an authentic taste of the city’s grassroots festival — the devotional, community-centred side of Durga Puja that complements the headline theme pandals.
