About Tala Barowari Durgotsab Kolkata

Tala Barowari Durgotsab

Tala Barowari is one of the enduring community pujas of North Kolkata, located in the Tala locality off Bidhan Nagar Road. Entering its 106th year in 2026, the club has long been known for colourful, often folk-flavoured pandals that stand out on the crowded North Kolkata puja circuit.

For 2026 the committee announced the theme Barowari'r Durga Bari (বারোয়ারীর দুর্গা বাড়ি) — a celebration of the barowari, or community, form of Durga Puja itself, reflecting on the idea that the goddess belongs to everyone rather than a single household. The 2025 edition had already drawn attention for its vibrant treatment and was covered widely across Bengali media.

Tala Barowari's pandal is typically among the more photogenic of the northern pujas, making it a fixture on guided pandal tours. The neighbourhood is best reached via Shyambazar Metro and a short ride north. Visitors should expect dense crowds on Saptami and Ashtami evenings, when the pandal and the surrounding para come alive with devotees and spectators.
